Writing is hard. It takes a lot of focused energy and attention to get anything down on paper (or screen). Sure, there are times when it more or less flows out of your head, but you can’t just count on those magical moments if you want to be any kind of consistent.
Sometimes you just have to keep staring at the blank page going over and over different words and phrases until something fits. It can be overwhelming given the sheer number of possible permutations of words. It can leave you even more incapacitated than before.
Plus there’s the idea that writing is a very personal act. You are literally taking your private thoughts and putting them out there for the world to see. It takes a combination of confidence and courage to expose yourself in such a way.
The best way to combat all of this? Write consistently. (Easier said that done, but I’m trying!)
