Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.
— H. Jackson Browne
Taking risks is part of being human. It’s part of what makes us special as a species: making wild connections between disparate ideas, ushering in here-to-fore unheard of creations.
Confronting our fears is one of the biggest ways we take risks. For instance, I’ve confronted numerous fears by writing this blog. I’ve made a commitment to write regularly, despite having issues with consistency and followthrough. I’m curating my failures so I can learn from them and grow. And I’m pushing myself to be more socially active, despite my social anxiety and autism.
So in order to find success we must take such risks. Otherwise we remain stale and stagnant. For instance, by opening myself up to the world with my writing, I hope to empower myself to be more consistently successful in connecting with the world while reducing the stranglehold my fears have on me.
